Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor supplied backing vocals for this tune. I wanted him to produce the record and I didn't have many songs or know what I was doing and was completely lost. I just said, 'Man, you wanna have some coffee? Then when I came back he was starting the Nine Inch Nails record so he didn't produce my record, but he helped me a lot. Boneface created the animated video for the track.

On May 28, free streaming of the album was made available on iTunes. On May 29, the CD-quality version of the album appeared on file sharing networks.
Like Clockwork has received critical acclaim. According to Metacritic , it is their most acclaimed album since Songs for the Deaf , with an average score of 82, based on 46 reviews.
