Great metalcore from back when it was more of an obscure genre! Very good cd. This is and will always be a great Record! Tides of Tragedy is their best work. If ur into metal or hardcore and u can find this CD at a decent price, buy it u won't be disappointed.
Maybe it's hardcore that's influenced by metal. Maybe it's metal, cleverly disguised as hardcore. Maybe it's metalcore. It's definitely a heavy dose of heathen, straightedge, tough mosh in the vein of Hatebreed, only a bit slower overall. Double-bass drumming abounds, as do plenty of opportunities to get on your floorpunching and your picking up change. As with most mosh or hardcore records, the record does not have anything on the live show, but it can be a good tool for learning the words and helping you warm up your pointer finger.
One person found this helpful. This is one of the worst of the cookie-cutter metalcore bands that surfaced after the explosion of the genre's popularity. Boring and simple riffing, totally predictable song structures, breakdowns thrown in for the hell of it, and horrid vocals both clean and screaming. Everything is lacking. This is even worse than Atreyu in some ways, and that's pretty sad. I mean seriously, metalcore is one of the easiest genres to master, and this is a sad excuse for a metalcore album.
They still play their style of Swedish influenced metal, with plenty of nods to At The Gates and In Flames, but this time around, none of the tracks drag. The addition of Ben Swan at vocals also adds to the band's overall sound, as his powerful screams make the songs more forceful. Shudder To Think 5.

It's not often that an American band can play at a level even with their Swedish counterparts, but Age of Ruin has demonstrated time and again that they are up to the task.

Hell, as you may recall, is full of crushingly fat, distorted riffs that sit someplace between the Realm of Chaos and the dreaded Left Hand Path.
Said riffs are designed to be dense enough to penetrate tank armor and knock the treads off, and they do just that.Dec 03, · Age of Ruin - The Tides of Tragedy - Track 3/12 - Truest Flame.
